Shea Weber does not deserve a no trade clause, after the past events nor does he have any leverage whatsoever. If he were a professional he would take his contract an be happy with it, it's business, tough poop if you get traded. If I were Nashville I would tell him to focus on earning the next 27 million dollars

I don't like them being the favorites. I'd prefer them to slip in under the radar and take a run to the finals. They were the favorites going into these past playoffs and we all saw how that played out.

Pens have the odd betting wise but what do you think will be the winner this season. Tough for me to bet against them is Crosby stays healthy. I like the Pens, rangers, ottawa, and carolina as the long shot for the east. And Kings, St. louis and dark horse red wings for the west. What do you all think

That's just not going to happen with Crosby and Malkin.

But put a smile on your face: it's a good problem to have.

Gee I don't know.

Vegas is almost always wrong with this, what was the Kings odds at this time last year?

I really think the Wings will struggle without Lidstrom. They need to make a trade possibly involving Filpulla to get a top D man. I am a fan of the Wings style and actually live somewhat close to the Joe and like going up there, but just don't see how they'll make any noise in the West, Nicky was an anchor.

Good point. Personally I'm surprised that anyone who watched the playoffs would pick 'em to win it all. Hopefully management uses the cap space on something helpful -- don't think that would be Shane Doan.

As long as the Pens actually put Fleury in and not a TuPac-esque hologram out there in the playoffs it's definitely feasible!

Not sure about the season, but the Vegas odds for them to win before the puck dropped of round 1 of the playoffs was 74:1 if I'm not mistaken

Anyone that bets on a favorite to win the cup should stop gambling anyway. You can't pick who's going to win in August in this league.

After the Flyers b-slapped the Pens in last years playoffs, the Pens better hope for a better first round matchup.

The season basically becomes meaningless - near playoff time, much depends on goaltending, who's hot, and who's healthy. In hockey, there is a great deal of variability here IMO.

The Pens played a poor series against the Flyers and would have faired better against any other team. Our achilles is the NYR. For now.

Pick a bunch of low younger aged teams with potential with crappy odds for small amounts of money yields the best outcome imo

How about just bet on one crappy team with crappy players and crappy odds? Like Toronto?

I think your verbage is all wrong regarding the Red Wings
but the teams are all very capable. I think a Detroit and Pittsburgh Cup Finals would be amazing, considering neither team has made huge changes in regards to adding FAs and neither probably will until the trade deadline

Yeah, I agree. I would bet on the Rangers and Tampa Bay. One favorite, one team that didn't make the playoffs.

Of course, I should preface that I suck at gambling.

Pittsburg can't beat the Flyers but they are still very dangerous. Even without Crosby.

But Detroit downright sucks.

Pittsburgh bud, there's an h on the end. I guess the Flyers are your team. We will see what happens. We had 105 points by season end and we could fare better if we see the Flyers again.

There certainly is an h. But typing with my fat fingers doesn't always work out well on the I-phone.

So parden my speling errors.
